Free agent pass rushers, Vanden Bosch, Peppers may force Favre into retirement
If the curb stomping Brett Favre took in the 2010 NFC title game loss to the eventual Superbowl Champion New Orleans Saints wasn’t reason enough for the 41 going on 86-year old former NFL MVP to spend next fall in Hattiesburg, he has more than enough now as the Bears and Lions bring in a combined 123.5 career sacks in free agent pick ups Julius Peppers and Kyle Vanden Bosch. Perhaps it was that unfortunate (or fortunate, depending on what side of the fence you stand on) playoff loss that led the bottom two teams of the Black and Blue to sign two of the leagues top pass rushers, reacting like sharks with blood in the water. Not only did the Saints show the rest of the league the key to defeating Favre is to get pressure on him early and often, they exposed the ineptitude of aging left tackle Bryant McKinnie by routinely beating the 2002 seventh overall draft pick off the edg.
