Cream of the Cornbelt

GRAETTINGER, ARMSTRONG — Seniors dominated the play for area Cornbelt Conference teams Graettinger/Terril and Armstrong-Ringsted this past basketball season, so it’s no surprise that a host of senior ballers earned postseason honors for their efforts. The Mustangs were named Cornbelt Conference West Division Co-Champions after finishing with a 5-3 record in the division and had three players earn recognition as Megan Sanders and Brianne Gonzales were named First Team All-Conference, while Taylor Grabinoski was named Honorable Mention. Sanders was the Mustangs’ top scorer on the year, even with all opposing defenses strategizing to stop her she finished third in the conference with an average of 14.8 points per game. Gonzales was an all-around threat for A-R. Handling the point guard duties, she finished ninth in the conference with 11.3 points per game, fifth in free throw percentage with 64.4 percent, 11th in rebounds with 6.6 per game, third in three-point percentage at 39.

The Estherville Lincoln Central seventh grade girls basketball team ended its season with two wins at Okoboji.

ELC defeated the Pioneers 40-15 in game one. Megan Jensen led the Midgettes with 12 points.
